Eastwell Park Trout Fishery by Andy Lush

Eastwell Park Eastwell Park Trout Fishery is set in parkland just outside Ashford Kent.

The mature 40 acre lake is fed by three chalk streams the water was clear enough to enable me to see the bottom in depths of 4-6 feet on my visit, Iím sure it will be crystal clear as the weather settles.

As the water warms during the spring weed could become a problem although the management has already treated it to prevent it becoming problematical, fortunately there are several jetties around the lake that give access to deeper water, there is also a fleet of 6 boats available to hire.

Stocked with hard fighting rainbow trout Eastwell is a welcome addition to the trout fishing scene in the south east.

Eastwell Park On the day I fished it was very bright with a strong easterly wind not great trout fishing conditions but the fishing was superb with fish falling to a variety of small nymphs fished on a fast intermediate 'sixth sense' line, Brian Harris spooned a couple of his fish which revealed a healthy quantity of small buzzers, with Alders, Damsels and Mayfly also present the fishing here will be very interesting for those who prefer the imitative approach.

Eastwell Park is open from Wednesday to Saturday each week with a 12 rod limit so it won't be crowded, this fishery is a relaxing haven from the hussel bussel of everday life in Kent a place I'm sure that will become a favourite of those who prefer beatiful scenery with our fishing.
