Pike and Zander fly fishing is getting more popular each year as specialist anglers tackle large “wild waters” for unknown fish. Weirwood has a history of producing specimen pike over the years, and now has a population of zander. Although not an expert Predator fly fisherman, Andy has fished for Pike, Zander and Trout on reservoirs for many years. Having become keen on fly fishing for Pike and Zander recently Andy’s knowledge of the mechanics of fly fishing and his knowledge of Pike and Zander behaviour means he can “fast track” your understanding on how to catch these predators. Spring and early summer fishing, during May and June, is the perfect time to fish for Pike and Zander as they feed heavily after the rigors of spawning. Pike and Zander are drawn towards the shallows and the weedy margins where the abundant coarse fish migrate to spawn. Searching large waters like Weirwood means fishing from boats is essential and requires a lot of different skills. Boat handling and drift fishing while searching different depths, at different speeds, are just a few of them if you’re going to be consistently successful. What’s provided? Tackle can be provided, but most fly anglers prefer to use their own. The cost of fishing tickets and boat hire is covered in your booking. What to bring? You will need to bring suitable clothing, plus food and drink, no alcohol please. Fee One-to-one guiding costs £250 per day *This price includes all boat hire and fishing permits* How to book?
