The "Jigging" Professor is the only Pike sized spoon I know that’s capable of reaching these fish [Andy]. Designed to be fished vertically from either a drifting or anchored boat this spoon will give you the ability to reach pike that are staying deep, in deep water close to features like valve towers and underwater structures. Here’s how you use the Jigging Professor: first, set it down on the bottom. Do several quick jigs with the rod to make the lure rattle and lift up mud from the bottom. Lightly shake the rod for about five seconds and then let the lure lay still. Make sure you jig sharply as you restart jigging as it’s not unusual for strikes on the bottom. Using the Jigging Professor requires a stiff fishing rod and heavy braided line. The jigging ’Professor’ can also be fished in the conventional cast and retrieve style, this spoon has a much more vigorous swimming action than the Original Professor and will fish a lot deeper! Top Tip: Add a small grub to the single hook, the added attraction and colour has produced some extra fish for me [Andy]. |
