Sea Trout - TK

This is a not too subtle variant on the original Alexandra. Although it contains all of the main features of the original fly, some of them have been applied to the pattern in a different manner to create what is almost a completely new pattern. The Alexandra is a famous Sea Trout fly and on the bright Salar hook of the TK range, it has performed very well on many different waters.

This is the TK version of the Bloody Butcher. It is a highly mobile pattern with all of the primary colours required of a successful Sea Trout pattern. The bright Salar hook ensure a high level of visibility, even in peat stained waters.

A great Sea Trout pattern which is seeing a revival in popularity over the past number of years. It had a Claret body hackle which is cloaked with a Bronze Mallard feather at the head of the fly. Strikingly coloured, it fishes particularly well in clear water conditions.

Named after that once great Sea Trout Fishery in the west of Ireland, the Delphi has become a good fly for many species. In this guise it fulfils the requirements of all great Sea Trout flies, with its bright body shrouded by two dark hackles, giving the pattern great "pulsing" movement in running water.

…..But not as you know it ! The materials in the original have been repositioned without losing any appeal of the original which is a legendary pattern for Sea Trout. The wound Teal hackle at the head of the fly replaces the fixed wing of the original, this provides much more movement than the original pattern, a feature that appeals to Sea Trout.

This is a superlative pattern for fresh -run Sea Trout. Its bright body and J.C. are semi-masked by long flowing hackles of Blue and Black which are tied in at the head, designed to create a pulsating pattern which is ideally suited to all water types. The wire constructed body is weighty enough to ensure that the pattern begins to fish as soon as it hits the water, ideal for small or difficult lies where one-cast=only may be the order of the day.

Probably the most popular of all of the RAT series, especially on this side of the Atlantic. This pattern has been around for some time, being extremely useful for both Grilse and Sea Trout. Often tied with Squirrel in the wing, we prefer the original wing version which has Silver Fox body hair. This is a striking pattern, with its gold ribbed Silver body and overall slim-dress design. It is particularly good in fast water when fresh fish are in the river.

The Silver stoats tail is very highly regarded by Sea Trout fishers the world over. It is a simple pattern, constructed from a bright body and a dark hackle - a combination seen in many great patterns. This version also carries a long-fibred Guinea Fowl hackle as a head hackle which helps to break up the profile of the pattern and introduces a little bit more life to the swimming fly.

Tony King, the creator of the TK series claims this pattern as his favourite style of fly for seeking out pools in the dark of night. It is a surface fishing fly which creates a wake as it swims across the water surface. This wake is well known to attract the better specimens held in any pool. One thing is for sure, if the fish are there and this pattern is cast near them, they will not be long announcing their presence.

One of the classical Sea Trout flies for many years, this fly has also staked a claim with the Stillwater fishers as a pattern to fall back on when pin fry are on the menu. With its deeply contrasting shades of Black, White, Blue and Silver, it is no wonder that it has remained to modern times without much in the way of change.
