Tube - Plastic

This is one of the famed "Doctor" range of patterns, dressed on a Tube fly. It is a bright and colourful fly which is noted as a good fly for the cold conditions of Spring. It fishes best in clear water, possibly fished on a sinking line, slowly through the known lies of the pools.

The colours on this pattern are intended to imitate those of a Comet as it streaks through the night sky. Whatever about the name, this is an extremely popular pattern for Salmon fishing throughout Ireland and the U.K., and there can be little doubt about the veracity of its record in this respect.

A Tube fly pattern named and dressed in honour of that most Scottish of patterns, The Dunkeld. Originally a feather winged Salmon fly, it is now dressed in many different styles, all successful at their respective roles. The essence of the pattern is a Gold body under a multi-coloured wing, composed mainly of Orange. It can be fished with confidence throughout the season.

Scotland has been the birthplace of many, many great patterns over the past 200 years or so. The Green Highlander, which began life as a fully dressed classic Atlantic Salmon Fly is now probably one of the best known Salmon flies in the world. Its appeal stretches as far as Russia and Scandinavia to the west coast of the U.S.A., and all points in between. It is exceedingly good in clear water, giving the best of its splendid colouring in these conditions.

A pattern created for the cold and harsh conditions to be experienced on the River Tweed. This is a startlingly bright pattern, carrying a body created form Pearl Mylar tubing. This is complimented by the white bucktail in the wing which also contains Chartreuse and light Blue. It is a pattern from recent times and, if recent reports are anything to judge by, will be around for some time yet.

A pattern originally from the Kyle of Sutherland, this fly has gained great popularity throughout Scotland, Ireland and England. It is unusual in the fact that it has a copper coloured body which is very effective in coloured water and in the back end of the season. Its striking colour scheme of Black, Copper and Hot Orange has proven to be a god taker of fish, particularly in spate systems and other rivers that carry a bit of colour.

This is a modern tube fly, utilising modern materials, which has been specifically aimed at those anglers fishing waters which regularly carry a peat stain. The overall appearance is of a mixed wing of Red and Yellow, with a smidgen of Hot Orange over a body of bright Gold Mylar. The wing is further brightened with Crystal hair and other Mylar based metallic fibres.

Space restrictions dictate the little that we can say about this pattern compared to what could be said about it ! It is a Salmon fly of the highest order and a Sea Trout Fly which has very few peers. With its classical hairwing silhouette, J.C. cheeks and bright holographic Silver body, this fly fishes in an extraordinarily wide array of water conditions and colours. Smaller sizes are excellent for Sea Trout and Grilse in summer low water conditions whereas the larger sizes are excellent in the late Spring and early Autumn times.

Newly arrived, fresh fish just cannot seem to be able to resist this most striking of patterns. Silver bodied, and adorned with bright sparkling hackles of Blue and Magenta lend a particularly modern appearance to this fly despite its mounting years. It is very effective in all sizes as long as the water is clear.
