This is a traditional imitative pattern which originated on Lough Corrib. It imitates the very final stages of an emerging Chironomid, a stage which Trout can become extremely focused on in the middle of the day. It has accounted for many large catches and has also been the leading fly on the competitive circuit for many years, particularly during the Springtime.

This is a fantastic variant of the GRHE. It is a lighter dressing, carrying two small J.C. cheeks and a thoracs of Hot Orange, all enveloped in a small soft hackle at the front of the pattern. It is great for all of the Trout species, and can be fished on a variety of line densities. It has gained particular notoriety in Sea Trout circles on Lough Currane in Co. Kerry, where they like ’em small !

Light Olive Damselfly Nymph product image

Light Olive Damselfly Nymph
£0.93

This is a highly imitative pattern for fisheries where there are Damselflies in abundance. Trout will take the Damselfly nymph at all times, without ever bringing attention to that fact. Damselfly nymphs are quite large and are vigorous swimmers, attracting lots of attention to themselves as much for their movements as their benefit as a food source to the Trout. The Marabou tail and body ensure that these patterns remain as attractive as the real insect.

A famous pattern from the Rogan family in Ballyshannon. There is a secret involved in the body of this pattern which makes it one of the best immature Chironomid larvae imitators, a very important Trout food source. (We are not about to reveal it !). Suffice it to say - this fly has an awesome reputation. A split J.C. feather, tied in at the thoracs area further improves this fly’s imitative properties, combined with a turn and a half of hen Badger hackle to imitate the struggle-to-swim behaviour of these creatures.

The Pheasant Tail Nymph is a pattern of great reputation, held in high esteem by fishermen of all of the Trout and Grayling species. Our version is a light-dressed version, which incorporates the slimness and overall general appearance of a buzzer. Bright thoracs and the addition of a pinch of sparkle in the tail help to set these particular patterns apart form other versions. They have received the "Jardine" treatment, subtle changes that do not dominate the fly or change its overall appearance.
