A double hackled pattern which is hugely representative of many patterns for the river or lough. It Quite effective later in the evening time, when the spinner stage of many hatches are on the water, particularly those of the Midge and Chironomid gorups of insects. This pattern can also be used as a generic searching pattern, which due to its versatility, can be very effective.

One of the very best imitative flies in the latter stages of a BWO hatch, particularly as the spinners start to return to the water surface to lay their eggs. The Trout of often become completely occupied on this stage of the hatch, to the exclusion of all other stages that might be occurring at the same time. One of the classics not to be overlooked.
